What's the difference between adult dog food and puppy dog food??????
I'm just curious as to what it is and whether a puppy can live on adult dog food.
These are the questions that keep me awake at night... LOL
There are two main differences between dog food and puppy food;
1. the size of the kibble, puppy food has smaller pieces to make it easier for little puppies to chew and digest.
2. it is higher in protein because growing dogs need it for energy and to aid growth.
It is also true to say the nutrients are slightly different.
On the whole yes if the kibble isn't too big a puppy could eat dog food, in fact most manufacturers say to change puppies to adult food at 6-8 months anyway, it's just the amount of food that varies (puppies need twice as much food per body weight than dogs).
