Can you get your credit card companies to put your payments on hold/defer them if you lost your job?
I was just laid off from my job and I was wondering if anyone had any success in getting their credit card companies to postpone/forbear/defer their payments for awhile. I know that they have those credit protector programs, but they cost money and don't work for 30 days. let me know and how you also did this, as I would greatly appreciate it. thank you
I don't know the answer to your question but I need to add something.
Do not tell the credit card company you have lost your job.
Again, do not tell them you are unemployed.
They will report this to the credit bureau.
If you have other cards, you can expect a tumbleweed effect on all your cards.
Being recently unemployed puts you in a high - risk category and you can expect your interest rates on all your cards to go up.
